post surgical rehabilitation
Reconstructive top surgery is a courageous, gender affirming and liberating decision for those undertaking it. As with all surgeries, it can carry associated side effects. These side effects may not show up for some time after the surgery, therefore it is important to understand and be aware that they are treatable and can be solved.
The unique, and treatable side effects of reconstructive surgery can include:
-
Scar adhesions
-
Restricted upper limb movement
-
Cording in the armpit and along the upper limb
-
Chest wall pain
-
Seromas (pockets of swelling)
-
Changes in posture
These can all be addressed and managed with gentle, hands-on therapy that is provided in a safe space.
With personal experience through family members, I open my doors and heart to all in the LGBTIQ+ community so that you know that this clinic is a safe space. Doesn’t really matter what your needs are – post surgical or ‘just’ a sore shoulder. You’re welcome and safe.
